Forging AfriBCD: A Tale of Collaboration

As with all great origin stories, this one is a result of right place, right people, right time. If you're reading this, you're well aware of Africa's underrepresentation in psychology research and the pressing need for change. Enter Postdocs Caylee and Anna, and their research supervisors, Isabelle and Catherine, driven by a shared vision and backed by a SSHRC grant for their project, "Catalysing Cognition Research in Africa." At a similar time, Bosiljka and her research supervisor, Sarah, had started "The African Brain and Cognitive Development Network", a project aimed at bringing together early childhood researchers working in Africa. As fate would have it, Caylee and Catherine were invited to join this network and noticed the parallels between the two projects. And thus, driven by the spirit of fostering connections and embracing collaboration, it was decided to join forces and merge our projects, paving the way for an all-encompassing Community of Practice. Here, researchers and practitioners intertwine their expertise, for the advancement of cognition research in Africa.
